Apple and Verizon Wireless are Ready to Release the NEW iPhone 4 Again
Looks like Verizon is gearing up for a full on onslaught on AT&T by preparing this advertisement. YES! The wait is over, 38% of AT&T customers agree, and I am one of them. We are all tired of the over-crowded AT&T network and are ready to enjoy the Verizon network bandwidth and coverage.
Rumor is that Verizon has been preparing for this date since late 2009, which means they realized their mistake pretty early on. This then begs the question: Why did they turn down Apple in the first place? I hope the person who made that decision has been given a job with less responsibility.
Lucky for existing Verizon Wireless users, pre-order starts on Feb 3rd. A whole week earlier.
Where is iPhone 5?
It’s pretty unbelievable that Apple has chosen to support Verizon on the CDMA network with another hardware redesign in the middle of a product life cycle. I didn’t think Apple would do it before the Verizon Announcement of the Media Event. Does that mean iPhone 5 is a year away, or will Apple release iPhone 5 on time and on schedule this summer and stick to their annual release cycle? If Apple does release either a GSM or LTE model iPhone 5, assume they solve the power consumption problem with the current generation of LTE chipset. Will Verizon Wireless be also getting the new iPhone 5 on their network? What will Verizon do for their customers who purchased iPhone 4 on the first day? The $375 Early Termination Fee is pretty hefty, I don’t think anyone is ready to pay Verizon that much money just get another iPhone upgrade, especially when that upgrade is only six months away.
To Upgrade or Not Upgrade? That is the question!
The whole point to switch from AT&T to Verizon is that the AT&T network just SUCKS! It wasn’t any better to start with, and it got worse with the whole iPhone crowd coming on board. I am one of them. I switched from Sprint to AT&T because of iPhone. Now that the Verizon iPhone is going to be the same as AT&T in terms of hardware specs, purely on hardware comparison, there is no advantage for Verizon. Now, when there is a huge influx of customers moving from AT&T to Verizon, what will happen? I am sure Verizon has prepared their network to handle everything we can throw at them given their traditional conservative nature. What will happen to AT&T? With all the data bandwidth hogging iPhone users gone, will the AT&T network be finally usable for those who remain loyal to AT&T?
I am still using the almost 2 year old 3GS. If I am going to stay with AT&T that means when the iPhone 5 comes out this summer, I will be able to upgrade without paying any extra fees. With AT&T slowly building up their 4G LTE network as well, and with all the other iPhone users gone, I might be at an advantage here.
What should I do?
