I got my Ericsson Xperia Play Verizon phone from a friend who is an Android developer for free. I don’t have it in the retail packaging.
The phone runs Android 2.3 (Gingerbread OS) and has 480 x 854 pixel screen resolution on a 4 inch Touch Screen. It is the most advanced Playstation Certified Android Phone I know of and comes with 8 GB MicroSD included, a 5 Megapixel Camera and a PSP-like controller.
Are you wondering if this is the phone to get and comparing it to the iPhone or a PSP Vita?
I want to tell you about the phone on this entry.
Typical peripherals come with the phone: power brick, paperwork, headphone adapter, etc. I have a Verizon unit.
The phone has standard 4 buttons on the bottom and when you slide it open, you have PSP controls. Mine comes with Android 2.3. The phone has an iPhone 3G sort of feel but also reminds me of Playstation Portable (PSP) Go version.
The Playstation mode comes loaded with some games. Speakers are pretty good and the controls are excellent. Also, since the controls are good, the phone can double as a great gaming device. You can add to your games by going to the Xperia game store.
This phone is being marketed as THE Android gaming phone.
All in all, this phone is pretty good and the battery life seems pretty impressive.
I will give the phone a test run and report back with a review.
I can’t tell you yet if I think this is a PSP with a phone added on or a phone with a PSP added on, but first look, the Sony Xperia Play seems really good.
I think this phone can handle a lot of wear and tear so, if you are considering getting it, make sure to get a screen protector and case.
