Samsung Replenish is the budget & eco friendly new Android phone from Sprint. I have one to unbox and then return. I did not buy this phone to use it. Since it purports to be created with sustainability in mind, it is nice to see the all-cardboard packaging. There is a green alien creature on the box. I would have gone with a green robot that could represent a “Green Android”, as Samsung claims about this phone. The box still does contain what I’d call unnecessarily thick paper manuals, so maybe they could save on that to be more green, but otherwise, there is very minimalistic packaging.
The phone seems to be mostly plastic and feels pretty cheap. It is about the size of an iphone, but it has a built-in non-sliding keyboard (similar to Palm Treo) so the screen is the remainder of the front, which does not make it very big.
The phone comes with a 2-GB micro SD card and a 1600 mAmp battery.
Initial boot up is slow and takes me to a screen with a background that is a recycling symbol-shaped cloud just to show you how green this phone is, if you go for that sort of thing. The screen is a touch screen, and the keyboard does really remind me of the Palm Treo. Out of the box, the swipe seems sluggish but the phone speed seems ok.
